Programs in News: What is Jan Samarth portal of Ministry of Finance launched by PM Modi. Prime Minister Modi launched ‘Jan Samarth’ Portal.

Programs in News: What is Jan Samarth portal?

PM inaugurates iconic week celebrations of Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Corporate affairs. This week is being celebrated by Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Corporate Affairs as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (AKAM) from 6th to 12th June 2022. 

The Prime Minister also launched the National Portal for Credit Linked Government schemes - Jan Samarth Portal, a credit-linked portal of 13 government schemes, to ensure ease in credit availability to youth, entrepreneurs and farmers. 

  • The Prime Minister also released a special series of ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, ₹10 and ₹20 coins. These special series of coins will have the theme of the logo of AKAM and will also be easily identifiable to visually impaired persons.

What is Jan Samarth portal?

Features of the Jan Samarth portal:

• Jan Samarth provides a single window facility for submission of applications for 13 government schemes and 125+ Member Lending Institutions (including all public sector banks) to choose from. 

• Beneficiaries can digitally check eligibility in a few simple steps, apply online under eligible schemes and receive digital approval.

• Real time checks with Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), GST, UDYAM, National E-Governance Services Ltd (NeSL), UIDAI, CIBIL, etc ensures faster loan processing.

• The portal will facilitate credit under schemes of agriculture, livelihood and education categories. 

• It will also keep the beneficiaries updated at each stage of the journey. 

• Multiple visits to the bank are not required.

• The main objective of the portal is to promote inclusive growth and development of various sectors by guiding and providing them to the right type of government benefits through simple and easy digital processes. 

• Jan Samarth, the national portal for credit-linked government schemes, ensures end-to-end coverage of all the processes and activities of all the linked schemes.

• It uses cutting-edge technologies and smart analytics to provide intuitive guidance to beneficiaries for checking subsidy eligibility and auto recommendation system offers best suitable schemes as per beneficiary’s requirements and credentials.

• Advanced technologies automate entire lending processes based on digital verifications making the entire process simple, speedy and hassle-free.

• The portal will be an ‘end-to-end delivery platform’, and will help more people to avail loans because of ease of compliance.
